Safe and Sound Protocol
Rooted in groundbreaking Polyvagal Theory, the Safe and Sound Protocol (SSP) utilizes the power of sound to unlock your ability to think, feel, and connect with others better by resetting and regulating your nervous system.
What is SSP?
The Safe and Sound Protocol (SSP) is an evidence-based intervention that is designed to help you reset your nervous system and promote emotional and physiological healing. By using specially designed music delivered through headphones, SSP gently trains your nervous system to feel safe and supported.
When your nervous system is balanced, you can experience:
-
Greater emotional regulation
-
Improved focus and clarity
-
Reduced feelings of stress and anxiety
-
Stronger connections with others
-
Enhanced resilience and adaptability

How does SSP work?

As previously mentioned, the Safe and Sound Protocol is rooted in Polyvagal Theory, which explains how our nervous system affects our ability to feel safe, connect with others, and regulate emotions.

During an SSP session, you’ll listen to specially-designed music delivered through headphones or in some instances through speakers. This music is carefully filtered to stimulate the vagus nerve, the part of your nervous system that helps regulate your "fight, flight, or freeze" response.
As your nervous system learns to shift into a state of calm and safety, you’ll start to experience:
-
Improved emotional regulation
-
Reduced anxiety and stress
-
Enhanced ability to connect with others
-
A sense of safety in your mind and body
SSP is a simple, non-invasive therapy that creates profound change by helping your nervous system relearn what it means to feel safe.
Healing through Connection
Humans are wired for social connection.
However, if you have a harder time interpreting cues of safety due to past trauma, negative experiences, or the way you take in information, your brain or body can misinterpret these cues and get in the way of meaningful connections.
What are the Benefits of SSP?
The Safe and Sound Protocol has been shown effective in a multitude of areas. SSP promotes a sense of safety, connection, and balance, allowing individuals to experience reduced stress, mental clarity, greater resilience, and more.

Emotional Balance
Experienced greater attunement to your emotions so you can navigate stressors and challenges with more flexibility and ease. Tired of your emotions controlling you? SSP can help you become more in control of them.

Improved Relationships
Shift into states of comfort and openess. The SSP activates parts of the brain that allow one to be more socially engaged, connected, and affectionate. Imagine experienicng deeper and more meaningful connections with those around you, espeically loved ones.

Better Stress Response
Long-term dysregualtion leads to gut issues, poor sleep, difficulty concentrating, and so much more. However, when our nervous system is regualted, we can better respond to stress and our digestion, focus, eating, and sleeping improves.

The Safe and Sound Protocol can benefit a wide range of individuals, including those who:
